I keep having Hardy freeze up on me. So far each time I have been in
Firefox and the system locks up, no mouse, keyboard, or ctrl-alt-bksp
don't work. I have to hold the power button in to turn off when this
happens.

I am also seeing gnome-system-monitor showing inacurate Memory usage all
around. The Line Graph shows less then 50% usage and the Pie Graph shows
33% usage but when I view memory usage in TOP I get a very diffrent
result. A much lower result of free memory.
This is a clean install on a base system

I can also confirm it appears to be working. I tried to do an upgrade

Ok Conn, I managed to reproduce your findings, i.e using intrepid's
alsa-lib/alsa-plugins with skype with pulse defined in .asoundrc.
However, it is very choppy for audio output, and microphone input gets
completely scrambled on one machine I have here, and another sounds no
different to the audio
I killed compiz and that restored my menus but now things are messed up
because compiz isn't running so it has something to do with that.

Upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy and after logging in none of the menus on

It seems that the 2.6.22 and 2.6.24 kernels running the machine hot is

On my x20 Laptop it is going without problems.
But not on my AMD64 X2.
Even not in a Virtualbox winXP (latest sunxVM for Hardy).
That is really strange.
I believe it has something to do with my update from gutsy to hardy.

Here, it's ANYTIME you logoff, including shutting down.

I'm still having this random lock ups, completely random, almost no
pattern at all. I say almost because I've noticed that it does happen a
lot when displaying videos o web searching.
So have this random lock ups that seem to be disturbing a large number
of users appeared during the previous alpha

Thanks for the suggestion to try it in Ubuntu hardy heron (8.04). As I
mentioned above, other reasons are keeping me from upgrading to hardy,
i.e. I want to keep Firefox 2.x while Firefox 3.x is still in beta, some
extensions that I use don't work in it, and some web sites that I visit

For persons that have personnal servers, this feature was more important
