This was originally reported for Ubuntu Dapper, then Etch was later
mentioned as having the same problem.
I have not tried Ubuntu on my U10 (with Elite3D), but I was having the exact
same problem with Etch
until I started the install with "install video=atyfb:off".

openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I have marked it as Fix Released.

I am having problems with the "Power Mangager Brightness Applet 2.21.91" when
adjusting, it seems to freeze for a couple of seconds, and no change.
I can manually dim the screen with repeating the following in a xterm.
echo 5 > /proc/acpi/ibm/cmos
lenovo R61 Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960
I don't see any unanswered requests for more information on this bug, so
marking as 'confirmed'.
If you need additional information, I'll be happy to supply it; the bug
is completely reproducible for me here, and I'm unpleasantly reminded of
