Those applications are GTK or support input methods. The problem is
affecting only X server applications not running on GTK or QT
toolkits. It can be recreated in the following way:
1. Fresh install of Ubuntu. English Locale
2. Install SCIM using language support and input for extended char

These include checks for if xrandr is available (which should help
Xinerama users), if the xrandr version is 1.2 (which should help nvidia

I can confirm in Hardy as well. But just on a freshly-installed 64-bit
system. Segfaults 100% of the time. :-( My 32-bit box (also Hardy)
continues to be fine.

Apparently, ffmpeg does the job of decoding FLVs. ffmpeg is open-source
so problems can be fixed. I will reassign this bug to ffmpeg now.

This bug is about a specific problem that showed up recently in Hardy
between 2.6.24-10 and 2.6.24-11. More general BCM4328 problems should
be reported as separate bugs.
This workaround might be cleaner than Felix’s, in that it loads
ndiswrapper earlier instead of unloading the USB modules later:
