i recently unchecked the gconf key
gnome-power-manager -> general -> use_time_for_policy
on my Thinkpad R60 and R60e; now it seems to work again.
I did this utilizing the application gconf-editor (for those who want to
change this value, too).

When I rename the file to ~/.xscreensaver.old and run xscreensaver-demo,
"Langton's Ant" disappears and I have to insert the above line back into the

Bought a new cable last monday. It was sold as a "SATA II cable". It did not

from my laptop, and I was never on launchpad at the same time I was
using the laptop.

I followed the instructions shown in many places including:

I merged it with the ppscsi-source code, so it has the debian directory
and archived it. All you have to do is replace the ppscsi-source
package with this tarball and voila. Hope
That problem seems related with HAL i can't reproduce since i only have
one CD/DVD+-RW drive but i'll check this.

I didn't download Luka's packages but changing those lines causes the
brightness keys to work on my machine. Check your
/usr/share/apps/kxkb/ubuntu.xmodmap.
Add the XF86Launch1 and XF86Launch2 lines if they don't exist. Something
like:
keycode 101 = XF86Launch2
keycode 212 = XF86Launch1

manager is ugly. I have kmilo-legacy installed so the asus plug-in shows
