Found problem. The Gnome VFS library was corrupted. I md5'd several files and
found that they did not match the md5 of the original files inside the packages
which I knew to be good. After replacing the corrupted packages the system
works as expected.

So... I know i'm rather new to this whole scene, but the issue i'm

On Unbuntu 7.04 (kernel 2.6.20-15, kernel 2.6.20-16) and 7.10 (kernel
2.622-14), my dvd recorder Sony DRU 810A firmware 1.0f does not respond
if I boot with quite splash.
I have this messages in /var/log/message file

but in the combination of the aggressive APM and some spurious constant

Ok I've got it working again, but I had to uninstall everything and
reinstall it all again and then reboot. Should I really have had to do a
reboot to get it working? It seems like the libraries were not being
found.

Just upgraded my machine to Gusty 64-bit, which I can confirm doesn't
have the bug in that hda driver (yet!). It also means I will not be able
to test this anymore. Yet another bug heading for a DONTCARE resolution,
which is sad considering it's a regression introduced *after* the Feisty
release. S
I just tried open arena and it didn't seem to freeze. prboom still
