This is related to Bug #51537.
My IBM Thinkpad (and all other thinkpads that I know of) have three
special volume contol keys: "volume up", "volume down" and "mute". These
keys are directly wired to the sound hardware, they need *no* software
support to work.

Hi, i've try to edit /etc/fstab with correct device /dev/hda1 (standard fstab)
and restart Ubuntu Knot3.
After restart the icons are not visible on desktop, the devices is not mounted.
This problem is for my vfat partitions.

again... I held the package and disabled usplash at start.

I'm using Edgy Knot 3 with all current updates installed. I also have
Sun Java installed.
I can't save any document in OpenOffice Writer, Spreadsheet and Impress.
When I try to save, it crashes and opens a window for document recovery.
Steps to reproduce:

I tried to add/enable 3D... in edgy. Got that working ok, but then X
started locking up. Even back to stock ati driver (which was used no
matter 3D or not) Anyway, some of error files. I have to login
terminal or ssh into same ... Nothing good works for video while logged
into Gnome.

I get the same thing here. It also happens when I try to suspend my
Dell D600 laptop the second time, or when I try to hibernate it as well
the second time. It seems to keep the tasks from quitting, so the
suspend doesn't happen. I am using kernel vmlinuz-2.6.15-27-686.

As the applier of said changes, I am very -- no, let me emphasize,
EXTREMELY -- unimpressed that a knee-jerk backport was applied. The
first 7.0.68 Edgy package was NOT to be backported to Dapper. Knowing
that many people use the flashplugin-nonfree package in Edgy, I intended
to wait several days

I put the CD into the drive, restarted the comp, it booted and the
live cd screen with the install icon came up. I double clicked the
install icon and then nothing happened- no dialog appeared- the cursor
arrow disappeared and after sometime the screen froze - nothing
happened. I then had to force

reproduce? ie, what are you piping the output to, that's complaining of
corrupted input?

Devfs is indeed deprecated in favor of udev, and many services start in
multiple runlevels. This is perfectly normal for debian/ubuntu, where
runlevels aren't handled like you may be used to from
redhat/mandrake/fedora.

This is not a problem if the legacy bios support is enabled. However,
the bios *can* detect the keyboard without this setting (otherwise I
couldn't get into the bios to change it!) so there may be a way for grub
to, also.
