Your /etc/asound.conf is obsolete, since cs46xx supports multiplayback
(pcm multiplexing) by default. You can move it out of the way for
testing purposes.

I think it's a radeon-specific bug. The atyfb (iirc, not near my laptop
atm) driver doesn't work with a lot of radeon cards. My old Dell
Inspiron 8000 did the same thing with that driver, too.

once started, I used the final LiveCD (Desktop) for Dapper Ubuntu to

So booting the 2.6.15-23 or 2.6.15-25 amd64-generic kernels did not
work? Obviosly the -generic kernel did work, since you were able to boot
and use the installer.
Something about your installed environment seems to be broken. Can you
at least get dmesg from the booted (broken) system?

This is odd, because your /proc/cpuinfo is almost identical to mine.
It's a G4, gray box. I was and have been running dapper on it for over 6
months (in fact, it was pretty much my development box throughout the
dapper release cycle).
I also have dapper running on my G4 PowerBook. I can't understa

updates done as of 3rd July 2006, change from DHCP to static and
/etc/named.conf is empty.
Removing resolvconf (part of the default install) un-symlinks
/etc/resolv.conf so doesnt get overwritten each boot.

Ok, the patch seems to port pretty easily (but I have to concede that I'm
fumbling around things I don't fully understand) and from my initial testing
seems to work absolutely fine.

This is definitely some sort of Xorg bug. The xorg.log shows two
different things in your working/not-working. One time is detects the
mouse as serio and the other it detects as usb.

The CVS version is known to work, and that's what is in dapper. That's

Probably because you somehow lost the linux-386 package that ensures
that linux-restricted-modules is also upgraded.
sudo apt-get install linux-386
And you wont have this problem anymore.

I can not reproduce this with my version of CUPS here (currently a
self-compiled 1.3-r5706 from CUPS' Subversion repository). I'll test
with a Dapper version later.
