Hi folks,
I have a friend that wants to dump Vista and try Ubuntu on her laptop.
She uses a Virgin Mobile Broadband USB modem (on the 3G network) and I
can't find any easy ways of getting it to work in Linux. Has anyone on
this list had any success with a similar device?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi everyone, thanks for the helpful posts about 3G mobile. I will try
and get my hands on my friend's laptop in the next few days and let
y'all know how it goes.
Cheers

My missus bought herself an ASUS eeePC the first day they went on sale.
She was supposed to hand it over to me, but she liked it so much she
kept it for herself. She is quite happy with the default Linux install
and doesn't want me to change anything (apart from install Citrix client
for her). I ha

Hi there.
I have a close friend thinking about getting one. She is concerned
that the screen resolution will be too low (like 640x800)

Hi folks,
I've had a mental blank and forgotten the name of a program I used to
use quite a bit. It is a command line program that makes a .deb package
from a directory with source code.
Does anyone know what I am talking about or am I off with the fairies
again?

My thoughts regarding Hardy release party:
- We should make sure that people under 18 can attend (as per Harrison's
suggestion). This rules out Slip Inn and many licensed places in the
CBD. Whilst some may have under 18's permitted areas an unaccompanied

Hey 'bunters,
I was wondering if any list members have experience in using a document

Yesterday I installed Ubuntu on my Playstation 3 [1]. In the process I
managed to erase all my wife's high scores, so have been in the doghouse

seems to be running as normal. Unfortunately due to the erased high

Hi folks,
I've just install 8.10 on my parents old computer. The only graphics
card is an old Nvidia card. When I use the 'nv' driver the resolution is
the standard 1023x768 but the screen is split in half , with the top of
the screen down the bottom of the monitor and the bottom up the top
