This is all good info Chris. Thanks.

Hi Karl,
Nice post. I myself have been rather busy and havent read any posts, so
reading yours (the first in 2 weeks or more) saddened me a little as I hope
the ubuntu community in aus doesn't die before it even lived.

I previously used a Microsoft MCE remote (works out of the box) but recently
moved to using a PS3 bluetooth remote so I don't need line-of-sight.
And yes, MythTV can record and play the same show. Easiest way to go is just
watch LiveTV and at any time you can press pause. In the background myt

You call that respectful, Dave? Seems like arrogance and insulting to me.
Definitely not in keeping with the CoC. Where are the moderators?

Hi everybody.
Yes I am top posting. This is not in response to any particular comment or
person.
I make this post very reluctantly and have not contributed to the fire yet
as it's all so draining and I really don't have the time for debates that I
just don't have a strong enough opinion on.

Dave,
I will defend my integrity.
You have quoted a thread from March, in which there was a general discussion
about Ubuntu-au Governance.

I also was thinking about building a media center with linux or buying a mac
mini. At the end, a friend showed me a WDTV.
It costs about U$100, runs linux inside and does not demand much energy. I
bought one and I am using it with an external USB HD.

Simon,
Same here, might be related to an update for Lucid or something? I have only

Hi all.
I'm having difficulty connecting to medibuntu via apt tonight and was
wondering if anyone else is having the same issue or whether I should start
troubleshooting elsewhere?

Good evening,
All this talk of wireless broadband devices has made me realise this is a
big thing that affects a lot of people (I am also considering a wireless
option myself). As a result I have set up a wiki on the Ubuntu-AU wiki and

Thanks Chris.
What OS and Multi Media applications do you use.
Do you; access the Internet, burn media (such as TV shows) to DVD, rip to MP3,
view photo's, edit home video, etc with this device?
Do you use a wireless network connection and if so what brand of card/USB (I
assume it's USB).

Hi Richard,
I had issues with a USB Modem from 3 that has two USB devices in it..
a memory device and the modem. They are designed for use with Windows
hosts where there are drivers on the memory device, which then
'switch' the device to the USB modem once loaded.
I wish there was a list of mode

Hi Jared and the List.
Yes I agree that things are getting out of hand.
I started this discussion at an attempt to get people to talk about the
issues.
We have had some very good frank discussion.
There has been quite a large silent majority and silence from the ones that
should be making comment
This will be my last response as per your wishes Jared, I am saddened that you
and Melissa stifle change, you misquote the code of conduct to server your own

Good evening Andrew and the Ubuntu-AU list,
Firstly I would like to say that I agree the Ubuntu-AU team could use a lot
more people willing to help out as much as you have in the Brisbane area. I
do however have some reservations about your ongoing tirade of emails about
the ACC.
I would again

Hello B.
I've been thinking about this exact same thing as my desktop is
currently my media server. I can do everything I need to except for
record tv shows and for this I need a TV card. Now the issue is what
TV cards will work in Australia while also working with the Linux
