Ok, here's the deal.
@Thirukumaran K - I'm not sure that some organic shapes would fit
nicely in a design of this kind, with minimalistic and /as sleek as it
could be/ approach. I was experimenting with a lot of patterns,
textures, and different shapes to fill the background with, but I

I probably prefer that one, I'll have a go at making a modified version of
yours when I have a few moments. Regarding the linux thing, I just don't want
to annoy Richard Stallman :P

Haha, maybe I should put "GNU/Linux based open source OS" on that
sticker, to let Richard sleep nicely. :)

Hello, guys. I apologize for this off-topic message, but I really need your
help. I subscribed a photography contest and I'd really like to win (the big
prize is a Nikon D90) because I'm a photographer and I can't afford a camera
like this. All you have to do is to open www.TotoranBogdan.tk and

The First CD cover is awesome!
But, will you use the same cover forever? We could use the structure, but

Ofcourse, I will keep developing Ubuntu DVD covers in the future, but
I just wanted to make something that will last for a longer time,
without having to change the DVD cover every six months. Why not
having one DVD cover, and just changing the DVD labels when new
version is out. :)

Its a very cool idea AND cover.
Congratulations.
When I get home I'll try to make some changes. Do you have it in vectors?
Inkscape, maybe? Wich program do you used?
I'm new here, sorry. But i am trying to do my best.

It's a great concept. I think you need something that's more definitively
Ubuntu, though. And the design should be as timeless as the cover itself.

@Tulio - I have it in psd format only, cause I'm still using
Photoshop, and I will upload it on SpreadUbuntu so I will send you a
link.
@Angus - It is quite hard to achieve timeless design, that will look
fresh and actual, today, and after x years. That's why I said before
that if we're gonna make
For most of my costumers it would be quite handy if the cover wouldn't have to
many changes if I give them Ubuntu dvd's but concider the following, every MS

Really like the purple pink black color now.

@Pumpkin In PSD it's very nice, I have Photoshop too. I just thought
you're using some Ubuntu app to design it, but, k'mon, Neither GIMP nor
any other img editor beats Ps.

But Inkscape is Vetorial Graphics, huh? Like CorelDRAW (Trash) and
Illustrator (Cool). Inkscape beats Corel and Ai, but, How about GIMP and
Photoshop? GIMP is so so good, very good, but, in a scale of 0 to 10, GIMP
is 9 and Ps is 10. Agree or Disagree?

Dis agree mainly the hardware thing, leak of tools in PS of lightning the high
price license and the speed.
Only in the interface it self photoshop would win but giving tools 9 and 10 way
to high.
For the education I got both were used as beginning tool until you 've more
exprience then they cam
A lot of offtopic posts here... :) Someone said that at least colours
should be changed from release to release. I agree, but I'm more
familiar with idea to create a special, different cover, for each LTS
release, and to keep cover for rolling releases, with maybe just some
color palette adjusments
As I said. I use GIMP 90% of my time, but some specially things, maybe there
is a way in GIMP, but I only know how to do it with Ps.

you are correct - it saves valuable time if the design is generic.but
what if some guy has two ubuntu CD/DVDs that are different verions (say
6months apart!) then to quickly identify it will be hard right?? I believe
we have thousands of colors are wide open for us to use...!

@Thirukumaran - I'm totally ok with the idea to keep similar/same (it
must not be exactly the same, people will get bored after year or two)
design from edition to edition, and to play with color palette only.
I have one quest for all of you/us actually. Let's creat
