The Hardy splash screen / icon was amazing, and I think something like it needs to be done for Intrepid. There's a wiki on this now, at a subpage of http://www.ubuntu.com/wiki/Artwork/Incoming/Intrepid. If another splash can be done well, it will definitely help the art projects to continue around
