I haven't seen the dynamic theme idea implemented yet and it seems good. tiger stripe example http://www.gnome.org/~seth/blog-images/monkey-hoot/tiger-stripe-window.png There were other examples but I think that is the best. Other ideas for dynamic widget textures are; marbling hatching tonic
