Ok, I was able to reproduce by applying all available updates on top of
image 55.
Never mind the question about logs, nothing unusual there. Some of the

I've just checked vivid and it's still the case. Note, the original
steps to reproduce no longer apply because youtube scope doesn't seem to
be producing previews for channels with 'Search' button. I'm not sure
which of the existing scopes exhibit it offhand.

Yes, as Saviq says. Apparently during update the scope is removed and
then installed again. When scope .ini file disappears from the
filesystem, it gets disappears from scope registry and therefore is
removed from favorited scopes. Fixing/changing this will be tricky.

Looks like it's two problems actually: manage list didn't refresh until
reboot when scope was updated, and the scope needed to be favorited
again because update un-favorites it.

Updating scope
Currently considering and testing two fixes for this issue, therefore
two branches linked but only one will eventually land. Both based on the
idea of delaying the notification about scope registry changes (shell
plugin does this on receiver end, scopes api does this on the sender

@Leo there's no way for unit-test it in the unity-api (which is the fix
we chose out of the two I considered). Scopes registry from scopes-api
knows nothing about favorites etc. This needs to be some sort of high
level integration test as you described.

Unfortunately the patched version of Qt from landing-001 didn't help
with our issue with smartscopesproxy (I've tested on an older image #73
on mako; it's important to test on an old image because we've recently
switched to netcpp in smartscopesproxy to avoid these networking
issues).
