QNetworkAccessManager and friends (QNetworkRequest, etc) use bearer
management for starting and stopping connections when needed and if
allowed by the system.
QtNetwork / Bearer Management cannot be made to u
QtBearer just runs on top of the system networking, so if the platform
specifies it doesn't allow start/stop of interfaces, like the generic
bearer plugin, it is allowed to return an error of 'not allowed' or
somesuch.
It's the current network-manager bearer plugin that does not take into
account

You might be running into those dbus blocking calls in the network-manager
bearer backend.
The networkmanager bearer plugin currently is using a few blocking dbus calls
to get properties and such.

That's right, any time QNAM is used it uses the Qt Bearer backend
(unless Qt is configure without bearer). In the case of the network-
manager backend, it calls the blocking dbus calls to get list of
services, and then for every service to get that services properties.

knowing when it's actually connected or not.
Although connectivity-api also suffers from blocking dbus calls, I feel
the connectivity-api backend is the right way to go for bearer & QNAM

property in QNAM, and see that the patch that (which was upstreamed to
qt 5.6) makes this property follow the online state like it should, is
missing from ubuntu's repo.
I will try to do some testing on phone and see if this can help
hmmm... I just noticed/remembered that upstream Qt networkmanager plugin
has been updated, which should perform a bit better as it has had some
refactoring/rewriting done. It is slightly more sane.

Actually, the only time Qt's QNetworkManagerInterfaceAccessPoint does a
GetAll is in the QNetworkManagerInterfaceAccessPoint c'tor. But that is
in the upstream version.
And the current ubuntu version (at least the one I am seeing) does not
do GetAll at all.

Briefly looked into this, and something odd is going on in the
networkmanager QtBearer backend.
The wifi connection is first reported in the Defined state, and then gets
Undefined for some reason when it should be updated to Active state.
Need to dig further.

Got this working on my laptop w/ unity8...
Except it does work, still see that thread message, except the count is
opposite of what it should be.
When I disconnect the keyboard (usb as well as bt) it says count: 2, and
when I connect it count: 1
When I first run the test qml, it reports count: 0
@osomon The reason you are seeing this not work correctly, is because
the value for countChanged signal is named 'devices' in the declarative
class, and not 'count' like what is in the base class and that you are
using in your qml example.
This should probably get changed in the declarative class
I seem to remember @timo-jyrinki suggesting the 'devices' name at review
time, so I must have not changed the base class. Not sure which one
makes more sense. Suggestions? Opinions??

It could very well be these apps are doing something that is causing this
behaviour.
I am not convinced this is an issue with QNAM.

This same crash happens on turbo when:
1.Open Browser app and Message app (or two apps - gallery, etc), then swipe up
in Browser --Tap New tab
2.Turn your device in landscape mode
3.Swipe from right side to switch to Message app and wait a while ,maybe tap on
the messages will help to reproduce

Downloads that use QNetworkRequest will seemingly hang when the
connection changes from mobile data to wifi and vice versa.
It would be nice if they would resume when the connection switch is
completed.
This requires changes in the bearer backend to enable forced session
ro
So the solution to this is using connectivity-api in a new bearer
plugin.
The connectivity-api based bearer plugin is blocked by the bandwidthLimitations
property not working correctly

I can reproduce this.
Start with screen blanked.
Cover top of phone with something., so it covers the proximity sensor.
Call that phone from another one.
While it is ringing, lift the cover off the proximity sensor.
See that screen stays blanked and only way to unblank it is to push
button.
