My notes on setting enable_rc6 aren't very good.
I may have started using it as a possible way to extend battery life, as

I did not install the image, just ran it from the USB stick.
By default, it does not not have a login screen, since there is a single
user, I believe.
I added a second user, and logged in to that user, which was successful.
But this may be different from what I see on my long-installed system.
Add double quotes around the right hand side of the assignment
definitely solved the problem for me.

I'm pretty sure I'm running a stock OpenSSL. The only things
that I can think of that I might have done in that general
vicinity were to install xinetd, althttpd, and stunnel4, and

as for frequency, I would say it's a little random, but seems to happen
a few times per boot - i'm not always eyes on the device, but it feels
like ~30 to 1 hr this happens
