I've upgraded my computer to a new one with a Realtek ALC1220 from an
ASUS crosshair VI hero and on my ubuntu 17.10 my 5.1 surround left audio
is busted, I've configured the system audio to 5.1 and tested all
speakers one by one and the only one that isn't working correctly is

Well, it is disappointing that you choose to close this as “won’t fix”.
As pointed out in the initial bug report, this “feature” is implemented without
notice or consent.
In other words, and to rephrase, this was done transparently in an hidden way.
Which is, to say the least, not corresponding
this affects me for some years now, bosses now complain for me to move
to windows as now we are all remote with tons of meetings and this is a
big impact on how they see all this linux desktop adoption.

We got the okay from the user to hold this until we have another high-
