I think it is not whoopsie that needs to be disabled but apport which is
responsible of generating the crash file and is the source of the load
on the device when a crash occurs. If the crash file is not uploaded

I tried to simulate the issue with Tomcat 7.0.77 (which is the version
UniFi uses), but I was unable to simulate this on Ubuntu 17.04.
The 'use-dso' patch that I removed in the debdiff, just point to an
empty file. So no use that file is in the deb.

I had the same issue with different packages (namely texlive-related
packages) during a distribution update from 16.10 to 17.04, resulting in
an incomplete upgrade. After a couple hours of trying to fix the issues,
I finally suspected Sophos, and disabling/enabling on-access scanning
worked around

the device completely unusable (cf bug 1654241)

Installing unity8-session-snap adversely effects unity7

Test Case
1. Start a unity8 session
2. Launch an app (eg Calculator)
3. Wait
Expected result
After an hour the session and the calculator are still running
Actual result
At some point (less than an hour) the session restarts (
