Public bug reported:
There is a large spinning Ubuntu logo during updates and a small spinning
Ubuntu logo during the boot process. I think there are two problems with this:
- whatever the progress indicator is should be consistent (not one large and
one small),
- more importantly, this progre

When changing a PIN code (and perhaps when entering it for the first
time), the text fields are pre-populated with 4 dots. I suspect this is
planned as a way to indicate that the user should type there (although I
question whether that hint is necessary). However, when you d

I have a google account set up, and contact sync enabled. Upon opening
the contacts app, a syncing progress wheel is displayed and it never
goes away. I have left it running for over 30 min before killing it (no
partial data or syncing apparent).

1. I am running 1.8.3-2ubuntu3 and the core issue still happens (and
Martin says that version has the fix Till mentions).
2. Manually stopping cups-browsed (via "sudo systemctl stop cups-

not.

I have a new XPS13, running an up-to-date 16.04. The shutdown process

Hi Martin
There were many services "waiting" and one that was "running" : cups-
browsed.service. I did it several times and this was always the case.
Nothing was listed as "stopping", although all were of type = stop.
I've also attached a journal.txt file as suggested.

It must be related to having actual printers on the network - it shuts
down cleanly/quickly when I'm not in the office. I'll try the above
next week when I'm back in the office.

Actually, those don't cover all the issues. One issue is the
consistency (or intentional inconsistency) of the activity notification.
The other issue is the use of a spinning logo at all (regardless of size
and speed). I believe the spinning logo is overly simplistic, not very

I'm now on r65. Bug was filed when I was on something much earlier.
Behaviour has changed, but it still doesn't sync.
Current behaviour is that app opens, I can add contacts, etc but no sign
of synced data. Account is configured to give access to contacts. I've
been told that sync may be slow, b

This morning I upgraded to r67, tried to sync, no results. So I went to
double-check that access to contacts was granted to the accounts and
this time it showed that it wasn't (previously I double-checked that
setting and I know it was enabled). So I (re)enabled it, and sync
started automatically.
I switched from a VGA to an HDMI cable. I have not encountered the
problem again since that switch.
