doubt about environmental reason because this laptop also has windows and
everything continue to work fine in windows. even tried to reconnect my
headsets in windows - still works. but it not convenient to boot in to win in

used the bash'ism instead of the much more basic (and more portable)

I have same problem. After dist-upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04. I get black
screen, and tty only.
I can startx after removing nvidia

listen-on { ! 10.0.3.1; any; };
Now, the problem at hands appears again with ipv6. In /var/log/upstart
/lxc-net.log:
dnsmasq: failed to create listening socket for%lxcbr0: Address already in use.
Deactivating ipv6 in bind solves it

stage (first, I suspected that the module was not loaded in initrd --

On another similar computer (a Samsung R525, rather than a Samsung R510,
where I got the crash), I was able to do the trick successfully on 14.10
(Trusty) with linux-image-extra-3.13.0-63-generic:amd64 .
Of course, there are differences in the set of devices in these
computers:
