I can avoid the bug by disabling ALL extensions. Just disabling one
extension doesn't help. So this feels like gnome-shell is blocking G-app
registration if extensions are loaded.

That's an incorrect statement. It does copy symlinks. It looks like the
firmware package ships duped binaries.

the PPC cross linker. I don't exactly know why, and IMHO this shouldn't
really happen, but I will mark this bug as Invalid for both gcc and
