Ooops, no, sorry, it works (/tmp/a was missing).
So the kernel is definitely able to mount the file systems, it's just

So what is needed here?
This is a major deficiency in Linux as a viable , everyday desktop
solution. Wifi is now an essential part of any OS/software installation.
The abitility to connect to various wifi routers at other people's
houses, cafes etc, where a WPA password is required MUST be availab

I noticed this problem because my wireles KB/Mouse combo became nearly
unusable after upgrading from 17.10 to 18.04. I'm seeing the high CPU
consumption as reported above and the dell HID messages as reported
