Shutdown hangs in md kworker af
Wifi icon on top panel disappears for me as well (16.04 + Unity). I have
to use settings > network to deal with the WiFi connections. Happens
mostly when I " suspend " and resume my PC.
I do not use an ethernet cable. So, unable to comment on that.

[regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generi
DESKTOP_SESSION is created by the display manager.
In particular, SDDM puts an absolute path in DESKTOP_SESSION, which seem
to be quite distinct from what other managers are doing. I have opened
https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/852 about that matter.
However, the 60x11-common_xdg_path could be

I've experienced this bug, also in a virtual machine (though with VMware
rather than QEMU). See bug 1707792 for details.
These bugs have a lot in common with bug 1433320, though that is
considered fixed.
