/sbin/shutdown: it turns off abruptly as if I had pulled the power plug.
Always after 1 minute exactly.

Yes, lightdm is working with KMS enabled and it is possible to log in
into gnome-shell Xorg session.
But lightdm is started as root:

my companies Cisco ASA VPN using OpenConnect (in NetworkManager), it
seems that with network-manager after v1.2.2, the previously configured
DNS servers aren't overwritten with what VPN sends. Instead, those VPN

Second unity8 user session hangs with a black screen

I upgraded from 16.04 to 16.10 recently and ran into an issue where
networking did not work until I created an empty file in
/run/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf.
nplan was installed after the upgrade:
$ apt-cache policy nplan

qtmir sends a key event to mir::scene::Surface->consume() without any
modifiers but it still arrives with a modifier when it surfaces from the
mir client lib in the client process.
Looks like some sort of key input validation in mir got confused and is
adding the modifier back even though the key
Don't get me wrong, the upgrade issue this causes has to get fixed.

And also from the source I agree.
But the rules dictate that one is supposed to verify the issue and the fix of
it.
So a question might be "how often is often" and "how long is long".
Because for me as well e.g.
