Your confusion is due to the difference between mkfs and mkfs.xfs. The
latter wants you to pass it the -f, but to the former, this is an
invalid option. The -f must follow the -t xfs so that mkfs does not
interpret it and only passes it to mkfs.xfs.

This SRU collided mid-air with another update that was needed. Given
the 7-day baking period for SRUs, we've stacked the two SRUs rather than
waiting for this one to clear. But no re-verification is needed, as the
delta for the new SRU doesn't change any related code.

And to answer your question, no, I didn't alter resolvconf behavior when
running 14.04. When forcing a "dpkg --configure -a", and then a "apt-get
-f install", it seems to fix that problem and I have a properly running
system.
I tried to upgrade another computer from 15.10 and didn't encounter that

I had the exact same problem until I realized doing the following fixed my
problem:
- Go to 'Image Quality' tab, or click on 'Properties' then go to 'Image
Quality' tab
- Try different resolutions then click 'Print'
In my case, changing 'HQ1200' to '600dpi' fixed the problem.
