To advise, one should be backing up their data, regardless if they
intend to test a kernel or not so in the event of a disaster (ex. HW
failure) they aren't wiped out.

I might also add that I replaced my keyboard with a new one with no
improvement. A USB plug in keyboard is the only way I can use this
laptop computer.

I went through more nonsense trying to update the bios to version 3.60
but I finally succeeded and reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04. Updating bios 3.50
to 3.60 did not improve anything. I downloaded Ubuntu version 15.0?
