Seems you are right. ports.ubuntu.comnoble-updates was disabled, I
don't know why...sorry.
I just installed 438MB additional updates, rebooted, no problem any
more.

Forgot one, now on the noble with all current updates this morning, not
crashing:

Yes, exactly that was what I did. Install all updates except the
crashing one, including proposed and then only the crashing one. At the
moment, I can't reproduce that any more because the crashing update
seems to have disappeared from noble-proposed. At least, no real problem
for me. :-)

Now, I just installed it on the original noble/24.04LTS from proposed:
It still CRASHES. It shows this via ssh (GUI inoperable):

Ok, I installed successfully without crash on two Oracular VMs.
First of them previously updated from 24.04LTS to 24.10.
Second of them being a fresh installation.

I just installed all updates on another oracular instance, wich I updated from
24.04LTS to oracular.
BTW: There were no oracular-proposed updates and I didn't check exactly if the
update was in the regular updates. Do you need that check?

Sure. I just downloaded and installed 24.10 from

Installed all updates (roundabout 760MB) via Desktop and Parallels Toolbox.
No problems so far. :-)
Maybe I should upgrade my 24.04LTS?

I installed all other updates, except libglapi-mesa update from

but disabled, so I wasn't able to install it via the GUI.
Can/should I try it on the command line?

The system is still running after the crash, I can connect via ssh, but the GUI
