my computer. The audio on the WF-1000XM4 started stuttering.
Reinstalled Bluez and PulseAudio. In the PulseAudio GUI there is a tab
called Configuration. It constantly defaults codec LDAC (High Quality).

Whether your headset cannot be switched from HFP to A2DP is a separate
issue anyway. You can try pairing and trusting the device again, also
please check if you have pipewire audio enabled which could seldom take

As a side note: headset mic was brought to life (tested for "headset-
mode" model) on the 0x19 pin (as detected/configured by default) with
specifically selecting "Not Present" for jack detection (in Advanced

Just get yourself Bluetooth audio card and save yourself a trouble, this
will never be fixed. And you will not be able to use A2DP for
conversation even if fixed. The goal of the fix is to add HFP 1.6 with
mSBC 16kHz audio encoding so you have better quality during

Got the same problem. It looks like the problem is in the kernel 4.15
with Canonical patches. Vanilla 4.15, built from source, has no problem
with useradd. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS kernel 4.13 generic, built from source,
is also ok. I've spent plenty of time trying to make it work.

Here is another observation (my old workaround):
- KMS is enabled, gdm starts in wayland mode. Trying to start gnome-
shell in Xorg mode fails (gnome-shell/mutter crash).
- Switch to tty (ctrl+alt+f2), login and start:
- $ sudo lightdm --test-mode
- lightdm is starting, nvidia logo appears for a

indeed, if KMS is enabled, gdm starts perfectly in wayland mode and you
can use gnome-shell wayland session (glx is however broken). But if you
would like to use gnome-shell Xorg session, then gnome-shell will crash,
because apparently gdm starts xorg in rootless mode (I presume uid of

with sound from the dock: dock has two separate jacks, one for line in and one
for line out
I solved it with pin retasking for 0x1b (out) and 0x18 (in)

I have an HP Zbook 15u laptop with a mic mute button at fn+f8. I didn't
work for me with xubuntu LTS 14.04.03
What is wished: keyboard shortcut fn+f8 should produce XF86AudioMi
I've tried a newer version of chromium-browser (47) from this ppa:
ppa:canonical-chromium-builds/stage
And it seem to work normally.
