Hit this again over the weekend, automation was successfully fetching
and then started getting 503s

Yeah, this is an intermittent issue. I have hit this issue many times
over the since July 12, and continue to hit this. The files return a 503
on my first request, and then after a minute or so I am able to fetch
the files successfully.
