This is not a local configuration issue. Please see the steps to reproduce: besides the 'sudo apt install squid-deb-proxy squid-deb- proxy-client' there is no additional configuration present. The issue is not in "how your proxy configuration will interact with your sources.list" but in "apt using

As a workaround I managed to pair successfully following the instruction in the "Pairing process" section at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth_keyboard i.e. sudo bluetoothctl -a power on agent KeyboardOnly default-agent pairable on #enter pairing mode on the keyboard scan on pair MAC_
