This bug just hit my third server, this one running 22.04.
I have installed 24.04.1 on the first and second servers that had been running
24.04 when this bug hit.

I found the NetworkManager-l2tp bug report on github
(https://github.com/nm-l2tp/NetworkManager-l2tp/issues/230) that helped
me fix the problem. I disabled MPPE and only checked the MSCHAPV2
checkbox, now I can connect.

Hi Jeremy,
you got me there! It was picking up a GTK2 library from a software
package called "ultrascan3" that put itself into the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I
unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH and everything works as expected.

I am unable to duplicate this bug with the information you have
provided.
Do you happen to have a different version of GTK2 installed that you may
have built yourself, perhaps years ago? Unfortunately, this can conflict
badly and the system doesn't really alert you to this problem.

FWIW this also results in Evolution breaking on the Ubuntu MATE live
image. There are multiple bug reports about this.
If enabling the profiles is too drastic, maybe it's possible to disable
the AppArmor user namespace restrictions on the live ISO using `echo 0 |
