Occasionally, (I wasn't able to reproduce it) xorg just hangs or crashes
to the log screen. It happens about every two weeks, especially if I
don't reboot often (However doesn't matter much, I think, because it
also happens on "fresh" boot).

Valid point, though arguably a different bug. Looks like mimicking the old
sysvinit behaviour might be quite tricky. Maybe a comment in the stub
rc.local would do? Unless we can do something clever with unit run
conditions...

I will make the change for Ubuntu 22.04 — our latest LTS — besides the
current development version. As regards other desktops, all the official
Ubuntu flavors will be affected by this change in lang

Hi Tom, thanks you for the report. This bug is a(nother) duplicate of
bug #1889443 which is fixed in Ubuntu >= 22.04 (jammy). The fix is being
backported to Ubuntu 20.04 and I also plan to backport it to 18.
Hmm. Come on please. rc.local should NOT, in any way possible, depend on
network-online *by default*. Enabling that After= directive was a
mistake. Why do you think that any system not connected to the network
but which uses anything in rc.local (like doing any *local* stuff)
should not let the use
See XorgLogOld.txt, this seems to be related to my KVM and the Nvidia
driver thinks it can't find any valid display modes. This was not seen
on Xubuntu 20.04 and the KVM seems to be working okay with other
systems.

Since a fresh install of Xubuntu 22.04 sometimes X launches to a white

Invalid, user filed a new bug (also in the wrong component, but I'll let
the evince maintainer deal with that), so it's also a duplicate at this
point.

Public bug reported:
Hello.
I'm on ubuntu 22.04, I saw that ntfs3 is supposed to correctly write to an NTFS

I inform you that this is not the case.
