Can you explain what you think should be happening here? Running
ntpdate from sudo or a root shell gives exactly the same behaviour -
ntpdate requires a list of servers to be provided on the command line,
and it is simply indicating that this has not been provided.

was being checked so set it to 0 in /etc/fstab. But /dev/nvme0n1p5 kept
being checked no matter how long interval set using tune2fs. Finally

Correct, purging resolvconf is only supported "out of the box"/"just
works" in 17.10 and up, as resolvconf/libnss-resolve there have the
correct maintainer scripts to do the tansition.
I do not recommend using systemd-resolve in xenial, as it does not have
a stub resolver available, and software t

This looks odd... Are you inside a livecd session? Upgrades on livecd
are not supp
