I tried to reproduce on 17.04 as that is the release it shows up for you.
In a new zesty container first without dnsmasq installed I see the follwing
base config in /etc/resolve.conf:
- 10.0.4.1 is my local dns which forwards to my provider
- 127.0.0.53 of systemd-res

with systemd's power functions send the wall message as they're supposed
to. I have tried all of the following and none of them produce the

I realise now the inverted logic the GUI actually implies, you need to
select the VPN connection from a physical connection, not select the
physical from the VPN.
I'd say 'Automatically connect to VPN when using this connection' needs
to be worded better as to not imply 'this connection' as being

I am seeing this bug in Ubuntu v14.04. No obvious cause. When it's
happened we've physically replaced the instances, as there is no console
access at AWS.
