/usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf was
recreated and I had to delete it to get my wired LAN back.

for you.
As far as why the off-line resize is hanging, you would need to run it
with debugging symbols under gdb and then stop it and submit a stack

It could also be because of DNSsec. I have seen HTTP working, though
HTTPS failing.
When adding the Google nameservers before the default (127.0.0.53,

The root cause of this problem is probably that the "invoke-rc.d cups
stop" command fails on Xenial if there are jobs in queue. The dpkg
preremoval script runs that command and thus the upgrade procedure
fails. In the newer Ubuntu versions the command executes flawlessly.

Noticed this as well. I saw the iscsid daemon running on my systems, but
found out that these were installed by default.
