After fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10, I am experiencing a weird problem:
When I log out from Unity session (or any other desktop session) Lightdm
flashes twice (as if it reloads itself twice) & sets the brightness to
max.
I set following setiing to /etc/rc.local to preserve

I don't think this was ever SRUed to trusty, so the the Trusty task
shouldn'e be marked Fix Released.
The fix was released in Utopic with apparmor 2.8.96~2541-0ubuntu1, but
Trusty is still on 2.8.95~2430-0ubuntu5.

I just upgraded a 12.04 to 14.04.1 and discovered my server now boots

This is a very interesting bug. It happened on David's device as well,
and I could finally debug the situation.
The problem is that constructing a QNetworkAccessManager takes 10
seconds.
I'm attaching a trace log (with timestamp, and 256 bytes of string data)
which is taken from a minimal test ap
The patch already went upstream in NetworkManager and now we have an
Ubuntu package landing soon.
The upshot is that we now have a simple DBus property:
