If there were an easy full-disk-encryption method for linux-based
environments, that would be a decent competitor. TrueCrypt offers this,
but only for Windows 7 and below (if I recall correctly).

Check out FreeOTFE and FreeOTFE Explorer. They are packed as
PortableApps.com as well and offer access to LUKS containers. The
interface is quite ugly and dated compared with TrueCry
