I tend to think of the Debian code copies policy as encouraging
collaboration, cooperation, peer review, a culture of participation
and the spirit of free software amongst the upstream developers of

the signatures as explained on
https://www.torproject.org/docs/verifying-signatures.html.en . That way,
you can download via untrusted sources. HideMyAss isn't a bad solution

We have a ticket (#8290) to remove the /etc/tor/tsocks.conf file,
especially now that Torsocks exists and is recommended over a stock
tsocks. It seems like a decent idea to me, but before I go ahead, I
want to know whether any packages or large groups of users are relying
on it.
