Hi,
How do I verify that simscan is actually running and working? I've
installed it and configured it (I think!) but I'm not sure how to verify
that it's actually being called. Can someone please give me some
pointers how I can verify my setup.
Thanks,
Nick...

Hi,
My lowly box with only 256mb of RAM is trying to run too many spamd
processes (5). How can I reduce this number? I can't seem to find how
spamd is started. I was expecting it to be in /etc/init.d/ somewhere but
perhaps things have moved around since I last built a qmail box about 4
years ago.
Hi,
I've asked this on the SA mailing list as well, but I think it's more
likely it's a setup issue. I've followed Bills instructions exactly -
the only additions being that I've installed Razor2 and DCC.
Why do I get (VERY) different results on the same machine if I call

Hi,
Is it possible to have per user rules with SpamAssassin in this
configuration (ie using vpopmail)? If so, how do I do this?
Thanks,
Nick...
I'd also like to know if there is a way to automatically sort mail into
the correct IMAP folders based on headers at the server end. I used to
use a .mailfilter file before but I'm not sure anything like this would
work with vpopmail.
Any pointers on how I can get this (or something similar) to wo

I use the vdelivermail - spamassassin + maildrop patches that I recently
posted here on the list for vpopmail. Then, I run spamassassin with
preferences in MySQL. Lastly,
Hmm.. this is all getting rather complicated for little me. Thanks
very much for all your help but I'm coming to the conclusion that I'll
probably have to use a commercial product.
Well, do whatever works for you. But it has been my experience that

Thanks for your replies.
Is there a way I can bypass the vpopmail system for a single domain and
control it using normal .qmail files and mailfilter?
What tells qmail that a particular domain is handled by vpopmail?

I found some new enthusiasm to persevere with a qmail toaster and I've
got further towards the setup I want but have run into another problem.
I've got mail delivery

I had already changed that back, but I'm getting some errors in

But there's no such thing as "authpwd".
In /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/authdaemonrc it says:

I'm very stubborn and I couldn't let this beat me...
I've got IMAP authentication working now! :)
I did a "yum install pam-devel", then recompiled courier-imap, deleted
Hi,
I have IMAP authentication working for vpop and standard linux users,
but I have a problem with SMTP authentication.
I need SMTP authentication to work for standard linux users (I'm not
worried about vpop users at all). I understand that Bill's toaster
incorporates a Qmail auth patch but wh

I also have this line in /var/log/maillog

than /etc/passwd users.
I would like it to work for /etc/passwd users only, or both -
Hi,
(I sent this to the vchkpw mailing list, but it's probably more
applicable to this one?)
I built a Qmail box following Bill Schupp's instructions on the web. For
various reasons I then needed to add a "normal" qmail domain for a
normal local shell account (ie, not via vpopmail).
For some rea
If I remove it from virtualdomains, how will it know which user that

Fixed!
I have no idea why, but somehow Exim had jumped on to my box. I
certainly haven't installed manually but perhaps something had it as a
dependancy when I installed something else or maybe did a "yum update".
Anyway - now that I've uninstalled Exim, everything is working OK. No

Hi,
I have a local domain configured in rcpthosts and virtualdomains, but if
I try and send mail from this domain I get the error:
"Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.5.3 -

But the domain *IS* in my rcpthosts file, so why is qmail saying this?

You have to allow relaying for the IP you are sending from. Just
because the From domain is listed in rcpthosts doesn't mean the To
domain is going to be allowed.
How do I do that? I don't seem to have any files in qmail/control which
look like they're supposed to contains IP addresses.
