Adding to this I'm also interested in this feature. I do remember talking to someone on the IRC channel that was implementing something similar where panes could sent to the background and they could be brought up in a list like in screen (ctrl-a, " for the list in screen). -Gino Lisi

Mouse resizing and multiple panes
