Yes, minicom is not a particularly attractive serial program. Do the "k
ake it a bit
easier to code up and explore new UI modes.
Code, of course, speaks louder than words, and I won't have any time soon
to work on such a refactoring.

namespace with unmodified tmux. It isn't clear that this is quite the
right thing, but it's been handy so far. It never garbage collects any
detached session, either.
