applications opened in tmux never gain focus (OS X)

Hi tmux folks, I'm having this issue on OS X 10.8.2. It happens in all versions of tmux I've tried including HEAD. Any command that opens an OS X window within a tmux session does not gain focus. The window opens and can be clicked to gain focus but the keyboard input still goes to the tmux s
