Hi Frank,
I've had the same trouble with Ubuntu and Linux Mint. The only way I was
able to get TLF to work at all was to boot straight to the 2 floppy disks.
I also used the Debian DXpedition Disk without any trouble.

Hello,
I've updated the xubuntu to with the most recent updates and eventually
installed (with apt-get) latest version of TLF contest logging program.
My details:
TLF: 0.9.32.3-6
Kernel: Linux kernel 2.6.32-25-generic #45-Ubuntu i686
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
TLF crashes.
It also crashes
