I don't know why no-one mentioned /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css
I believe -- but I'm not sure -- that you can find what you are
looking for there.

Thanks for the idea of changing the theme or using the High Contrast, but
the only thing that I want to change is the calendar portion not
everything...
