Agreed, the screensaver screen ("the shield") behavior is sub-optimal. It
forces you to drag it up using a mouse or hit Esc. Nothing else works.
Please file a ticket agains
Apparently Anaconda is not installing the screensaver control applet.

To top it off, I got an invisible cursor again, this time before
