For what it is worth ...
Fedora 22 , XFCE spin, runs fine in KVM (virt-manager) using a Fedora 21 host
In my experience, Virtualbox has tended to lag, thus I converted to KVM. If
Virtualbox is not working, consider using KVM for testing.

I installed xfdesktop 4.10.3 from f21 updates-testing and it seems to be
working just fine for the last 2 days.
I am not sure if that is sufficient for me to give a +1 karma as I am not
familiar with the package of specific bug fixes (sfce has always been stable

You can "fix" this with
yum swap -- remove firewalld-config-standard fedora-release-cloud -- install
firewalld-config-workstation fedora-release-workstation
swap workstation for non-product if you wish ;)
IMHO it would be nice if it were easier / more straightforward to swap between

Took the kde desktop for a spin, looks good. yum was broken though, could not

OK, I took yesterdays daily build for a spin on my netbook.
First - looking great. Fedora boots Fedora 17 with no problems, X is working
out of the box, no tweaking required.

Just thought I would weigh in on this issue ...
I use the gma500 and, yes g3 is a bit slow, but performance has been improving.
It is on my to do list to take one of the F17 daily spins for a test drive.
If you find g3 slow, use another window manager, but I sort of like G3 on my
netbook ;)

Grub2 is a bit of a change.
The advantage, IMO, is that grub 2 works much better out of the box and the
need for manual configuration is much less.
The disadvantage is that it is more complex to manually configure, as you found
out, and the syntax has changed.
