Fedora and MATE desktop

The MATE desktop web site has install packages to add MATE to Fedora 16 or 17. Lo and behold and deja vu, there it is, legacy Gnome 2 desktop. I tried compiz but that didn't work. That said, I think I've become accustomed to Xfce. Would be nice to get workspaces on a cube now and then. -- Chuc

Apparently Anaconda is not installing the screensaver control applet. Whatever, when Gnome times out Fedora hides the screen. I could not find a way back short of Ctrl-Alt-F2 and rebooting. Ntpd is still not being installed. To top it off, I got an invisible cursor again, this time before a yum
