Ubuntu is most popular linux distribution and Ray tried to catch Ubuntu release deadlines with tesseract 3.02.02 and 3.03 (still not released) version. So if you are able to compile tesseract by yourself from source I do not see any advantage to use Ubuntu instead of Fedora. IMO more important i
