Thanx so much for speedy responses! Progress so far as follows:
after editing /etc/conf.modules, chmod lp0 and changing a dip - switch
setting on the printer to insert a carriage return after line feed,
printing is almost perfect. The only task remaining is to make the thing
spit out the paper whe

I have the same setup and I believe I had to edit my
/etc/conf.modules
to include the line:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
There was something on RedHat's site about it, so I'll check to see if I
have anything else about this problem.
