Try the PDA from Handspring. They're made by the same people who developed the original Palm Pilot and they're not too expensive. They even have modules that does everything... the coolest one is the one that converts it into a cell phone. Also, about the devices, you don't have to use palm.net

i was just reading over this again, and I am confused on one point. YOu are correct in that if my gateway is 194.200.10.xxx , then my eth0 interface should be 194.200.10.yyy, and it IS currently that way...well, that's the intention, but it won't let me add the route for the 194.200.10.xxx I am

I could be wrong here - someone let me know if I am. Palm VII is wireless and is $449. There are different coverages available but $10 a month is the least. The Palm V which costs $349 (I think) can be converted into a wireless device but you have to pay for the device and $40 a month for coverage
