hiya,
A while ago some very helpful types on this list gave me some clues that
resulted in fixing the sound problems I had with my Linux machine at
home. I am a newbie, I guess, but I have learnt heaps about Linux, and

Now I have a rea

Actually Caity, you have been more help than you know. I think I saw an
RPM for RH 6.2 when I installed it. Duh, sometimes I just don't use the
brain God gave me... I;ll take a look. Thanks for triggerin
Hi, Shad,
I can answer your questions, but not in any way that is useful, I'm afraid.

1. Samba: is it possible to have smbmount mount a NT share as a user so
users can read/write to the NT drive. Currently smbmount complanes that
it need suid set if you want to have users mount drives. This is set and
the mount script has bth uid and gid set. But it still refuses to mount
the dir.

actually I needed to grab a particular string. For
example, all patterns matching QAA:

So I had this idea this morning for a piece of software that should
exist, if it doesn't already. Well, more specifically, it exists
already, but not AFAIK as open-source; the online bookstores all
have something like it. How do I find out if anyone's already had
the same idea and/or is working on
or, duh.
I need to grab a list of stuff with a matching pattern
in a log file. Specifically, anything containing the
string "QAA." Tried doing a grep, but I got the
entire line again, not just the portion of it that
contained "QAA." Argh. The frustrating thing is I
know I did something like t
I think so.
When I tried to make windows 2000 play with red hat windows wouldn't let me
NOT put it as the first OS on the primary drive.
However, I am so new at this it's scary. I could have been doing something
wrong.

Hi,
I have another printer question for you, I'm using RH6.2 and printing to a
network attatched HP LaserJet 4050. The printer works fine (since it's
postscript enabled) but... I have no idea how to tell it to use the duplex unit
from linux, is there some kind of control sequence I can send to te
